Cape Town is set to host a landmark moment in African music history this month.

In an unforgettable musical moment, Grammy Award-winning South African legend Lebo M presents his first ever live concert in Cape Town, Lebo M Live with Special Guest Hans Zimmer.

This one-night-only spectacle, taking place on April 18 at the Grand West, Grand Arena, promises to be a monumental celebration of sound, culture, and legacy.

For many South Africans, Lebo M’s voice and compositions are the soundtrack of memory and pride.

From The Power of One to The Lion King, his soundtracks have become global anthems, his arrangements capturing the spirit and soul of Africa in ways that transcend language.

Lebo M will be joined by long-time friend and collaborator, Academy Award-winner Hans Zimmer.

“My music is, and always will be, rooted in home soil,” said Lebo M.

“Staging my very first live concert in South Africa, and especially in Cape Town, a city so rich in culture and spirit is a dream long in the making. To be able to share this moment with my dear friend Hans Zimmer makes it even more meaningful.

“We’ve created magic together around the world, but to bring that magic home, to perform for my people at home, is deeply emotional and truly special. This concert is a celebration of where it all began and the journey still ahead,” said Lebo M

This concert is more than a musical performance, it’s a tribute to a four-decade career that redefined how African music is heard and celebrated on the world stage.

Lebo M, also an Oscar nominee and UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador has long championed African storytelling and talent across the globe.

His long-overdue Cape Town debut comes with significant backing from the City of Cape Town as the official partner and the Western Cape Province as the event partner, a reflection of how important this moment is for the province and the country.

The all-star lineup features a world-class ensemble, including MiCasa, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, the Soweto Spiritual Singers, Drakensburg Boys Choir and the Ndlovu Youth Choir, alongside rising stars Refi Sings and Nkosinathi Shabalala, son of the late Joseph Shabalala of Ladysmith Black Smith Mambazo. Together, they will breathe new life into Lebo M’s rich musical catalogue, from The Power of One to his most iconic works in film and television.

The event is also supported by PRIMEDIA Radio Stations, BET, and Independent Media.

“In celebrating Lebo M, we celebrate the resilience, brilliance, and timeless voice of African artistry.

“Don’t miss the chance to witness two of the world’s greatest musical minds share the stage in South Africa’s most iconic live music experience,” organisers said.
