Cape Town - At last some sort of sanity has prevailed in the selection of the Bok team for Saturday’s fixture against Italy.

It is obvious that De Allende is a powerful centre, but for so long his reluctance to pass, and his attitude of putting his head down and trying to make progress by sheer force have caused serious disruptions in any sort of flow from the backline.

To illustrate the point, he passed the ball twice in the entire game against Ireland – now that is simply not conducive to allowing our class attacking wings to even be part of the game.

Their talents are simply wasted, and the frustration they must go through is surely not the way to utilise their unbelievable talent.

Now Saturday, De Allende has been selected at outside centre, which is a move in the right direction, and we can only hope that he gives his wings a chance to be involved and create opportunities that are sadly lacking.

Of course I accept that we play a very physical game, but without utilising our potent backline, we are ignoring the two wings’ speed and deceptive running.
