Johannesburg - Think of it as a sort of motorised teddy bear’s picnic where Escorts and Pimpmobiles, Cadillacs and Camaros, Mustangs and Mk I Cortinas all come out to play.
These and other golden oldies will be cruising the grounds at Nasrec on Sunday when the eighth Classic Car Show takes place.
Car freaks from far afield make the trip each year, and 2015 will be no different.
Ford Escorts just seem to get more and more popular at each show, while VW Beetles and Kombis will also be out in force.
Ford’s new Mustang has just enjoyed its South African launch, and you can expect many examples of Ford’s wild pony at Nasrec.
Up to 1000 special-interest cars of all types are expected, and food and drink will be on sale at the venue.
There will also be dozens of stalls selling car-interest goodies. A big motorcycle contingent is expected, and there will be car drifting taking place in the Nasrec Skid Pan. Be prepared for lots of background music to the tune of Mr Chevy and his Fabulous Luminas, backed up by The Fast, Fat Balding Rear Tyres.
The show runs from 8am to 5pm and tickets cost R80 per adult at the gate (R60 if you buy through TicketPro) and R20 for children under 12. The drivers of special-interest car will be admitted free.
