Durban — The Hawks are searching for a 21-year-old in relation to a case of robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder and attempted murder which happened at Kranskop on Valentine’s Day in 2020.

Hawks spokesperson Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation are searching for Senzo Jeffrey Magwanyana, 21, in relation to a case of robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder and attempted murder which happened at Kranskop on February 14, 2020.

Mhlongo said it is alleged that on February 14, 2020, G4S security guards were delivering cash at a service station when one of them alighted from the armoured vehicle and was immediately accosted by suspects at gunpoint. The suspects demanded cash and shot the guard dead. They fled the scene in their getaway vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash which was later recovered after a shoot-out with police.

“Magwanyana was later arrested and appeared in court. He was released on bail and never returned to court. A warrant for his arrest has been issued by the court,” Mhlongo said.

He said anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts was requested to contact Captain Phumelela Makhanya at 071 481 3335.
