South African trailblazing music producer, DJ Desiree has been officially announced as part of the Coachella 2025 line-up.

This inclusion symbolises a broader movement towards recognising the diverse musical talents emerging from Africa.

As an intersex woman dominating the electronic music scene, Desiree's ascent offers newfound hope and inspiration for a generation of artists keen to follow in her footsteps.

Hailing from the vibrant township of Ivory Park in Johannesburg, Desiree has made waves with her unique blend of Afro-house, techno and soul.

Coachella is a dream come true. The thought of playing Coachella still gives me butterflies," she said.

'’My journey from Ivory Park to one of electronic music's biggest stages ... It's proof that staying true to yourself and your sound can take you places you never imagined.

“I'm excited to bring my whole self to that stage - my story, my music, my energy. It's going to be something special.”

Desiree’s upcoming performance at Coachella is scheduled for April 13 and 20, 2025.

The debut comes after an impressive run in 2024, where she debuted at both the UK's Glastonbury and Lost Village.

As she prepares for the worldwide spotlight, she is also planning an electrifying African tour that aims to showcase her artistry to audiences across the continent.

Kicking off in December, the tour will feature shows in Johannesburg, Cape Town, St Francis, Lagos and Kilifi, along with the return of her popular “Mmino” party series, which celebrates African electronic music and culture.

This tour coincides with the release of Desiree’s new EP, “Intersexy”, a two-track project that exemplifies her evolution as an artist.

The EP features the motive “Khuluma Nami”, featuring Jabulile Majola and the cinematic title track “Intersexy”, which Desiree describes as a “proclamation of empowerment for those often overlooked”.

The EP takes listeners on a compelling journey, interlacing orchestral grandeur with haunting melodies that resonate emotionally and entice dance floors alike.

As Desiree continues to represent the rich cultural tapestry of South Africa while breaking barriers in the global music industry, fans can look forward to witnessing the evolution of an artist who is truly dedicated to amplifying diversity and artistic expression in every beat.
