This festive season, Lynn Forbes, mother of the late award-winning rapper AKA, is striving to find hope and joy amidst her profound grief.

Despite the tragic loss of her son in February last year, she embraces the spirit of the season by sharing a poignant message of grace and resilience with her fans and followers.

In a heartfelt post, accompanied by a picture of herself seated on her son’s tombstone, Forbes opened up about the challenges and revelations that grief has imparted upon her.

“This Christmas, I want to share something deeply personal and meaningful; the gift of grace,” encouraging others to reflect on their own experiences during difficult times.

She added: “In the midst of grief, I learned that grace is not just for others; it’s a gift we must offer ourselves too.”

She stressed the importance of letting go of pain, forgiving others, and, ultimately, healing in a manner that honours both ourselves and the memories of our loved ones.

“It’s about choosing to let go of pain, to forgive where we have been wronged, and to heal in a way that honours both ourselves and others.

“When we come to accept that the behaviour of others has more to do with their internal struggles than with us, we learn grace,” she explained, inviting her followers to shift their perspectives as they navigate their problems.

“This season, I invite you to extend grace, especially when it’s hardest to do so. Even in grief or struggle, joy lives in life’s simple blessings; a smile, laughter, or the warmth of the sun,” she wrote, prompting a call to action for her audience to share their moments of joy.

“What brought you joy today? Share your moments and let’s celebrate life’s light together.”
