Three-time SAMAs winner Shekhinah’s start to 2015 has been filled with great success, and it can only get better.
From her killer single ‘Suited’ getting diamond certified, having her debut album certified as gold and making it under the Forbes Magazine Africa Under 30 changemaker 2018 list, losing Idols SA seems like a blessing in disguise.
The ‘Please Mr’ singer has become one of the biggest musical stars since she left the show, and while it hasn’t been an easy ride to becoming one of the most recognisable voices in the country she has definitely made her mark.

Taking the slow and steady route has paid off for the 23-year-old singer — she'd had endless bops with features on Sketchy Bongo tracks ‘Back to the Beach’ and ‘Let You Know’. And even getting to do a song with Black Coffee called ‘Your Eyes’.
The time spent on honing her sound paid off in a big way with the ‘Suited’ singer producing one of the most cohesive, sonically concise and lyrically brilliant albums in 2017.
While the singer was very nervous in how people would react to the album, once the reviews came in it was obvious that Shekhinah had the X-factor.
The singer also makes a conscious effect to include queer people in her music videos by featuring members of the LGBTQI+ community in “Please Mr” and ‘Different’.
At this rate, she might become yet another South African export that will take over the globe. To that we say shine on Shekhinah, shine on!
