Prince Harry’s battle to keep his USA visa records under wraps has taken another turn, with newly released files sparking fresh scrutiny.
Despite his efforts to keep the details private, questions about his past drug use—and whether he disclosed it when moving to the USA —aren’t going away anytime soon.
The Duke of Sussex has faced criticism after revealing in his 2023 memoir, “Spare”, that he experimented with drugs as a teenager.
He admitted to trying cocaine at 17, saying it “wasn’t much fun” but made him feel different. He also spoke about using marijuana, which he claimed was more helpful to him than cocaine.
These revelations have raised concerns about whether he was completely truthful on his visa application.
The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has been pushing for the release of his immigration records, arguing that the public has a right to know if he followed the rules when entering the USA.
Last year, a court ruled that there wasn’t enough public interest to justify making his records public. But the recent decision to release some documents suggests the issue is far from settled.
Harry has been living in the US with Meghan Markle since 2020, after stepping down as a senior royal. While Meghan is a US citizen, the details of Harry’s visa remain unclear.
President Donald Trump previously dismissed any talk of deporting Prince Harry, telling the New York Post: "I'll leave him alone... He's got enough problems with his wife. She's terrible."
Meghan has been an outspoken critic of Trump, previously calling him a misogynist.
With this legal battle still unfolding, it looks like Prince Harry’s visa drama isn’t going away anytime soon.
