This October, award-winning rapper Nadia Nakai’s fans will get to know a little bit more as opens her world on her reality show “Nadia Beyond Bragga” on MTV.

Nakai is no stranger to reality TV, she’s been cast on “Young, African and Famous” but this time, she’s spearheading her show.

Talks for the rapper to do her reality show have been ongoing for over a year and she thought it was the right time as there is a level of “rebirth” that is happening with her.

“I’m no longer associated with a male rapper, it's not Cassper or Psyfo or whoever. There’s always been like a crutch of a bigger artist that’s in front of me, that was doing so much in front of me.

“I kind of used that as a security blanket and I think this is the first time I am trusting my own opinions, I’m trusting my ear on songs I want to release, how I want to come out, what I want to do.

“I really took the reins of my own career and my music and I thought it could be an inspirational story because I have been in the game for a very long time and people think you get ahead because you have light skin or you're pretty but it takes so much more than that,” said the rapper.

Nakai on her show, will be with her friend's socialite Bobby Blancho who appeared on Boity Thulo’s  BET Africa original reality show “Boity: Own Your Throne”, rapper Tshego and her manager Phindile Matroshy.

For her show, Nakai wanted to put the most authentic version of herself and having her friends, the people that mattered the most, was important.

Viewers will see Nakai struggling with imposter syndrome as a musician as she battles with the decision to do a one-man show. “I’m too scared to do it, I got intimidated by Zinhle’s ZeeNation show and I’m like I haven't done enough to be able to do something so monumental.

“Imposter syndrome again, I can't drop my album because I haven't had a hit since ‘Naaa Meaan’ and I’m dealing with that and having people's opinions on what type of music I should release and who I should work with.”

Nakai as an artist is constantly having to assert her voice, with sometimes people disregarding her opinions, such as getting tracks with other artists she had not approved.

“Nadia Beyond Bragga” premieres on MTV Base on October 12.
