On Thursday Pretoria-based Bumbo International recalled about a million Bumbo baby chairs from around the world after reports of babies falling out of the seats.

The falls have reportedly resulted in three skull fractures in the US.

Company executive Donald Pillai told the Cape Argus there was nothing wrong with the product - they were only recalling the seats to reword the warning labels.

"We are concerned that accidents are occurring, but we found that people are not following the (instructions on the) label correctly," said Pillai.

The seats have a warning that they should only be used at floor level and may not restrain a vigorous child.

Pillai said they had decided to recall the product following the Consumer Product Safety Commission in the US receiving 28 reports of falls, including three skull fractures.

The seats were sold by Target, Wal-Mart, Sears, Toys "R" Us, Babies "R" Us, USA Baby and other toy and children's stores across America and online from August 2003 through October 2007.

Pillai said customers could get new warning labels and instructions at the website www.BumboSafety.com.
