When does the love for fragrance cross the line from subtle sophistication to overwhelming odour? How much is too much, and what's the perfect balance between making a statement and being the reason behind someone’s headache and nausea?
Fortunately, there are ways to apply perfume effectively and make it last throughout the day without causing harm to yourself or others.
Expert’s advice and tips
Jus de Rose is a perfume expert with a Masters Degree in perfumery and has dedicated her TikTok page to sharing tips on all things fragrances. In the video below, she delves into how to apply perfume for maximum impact.
Drenching your clothes in fragrance won't yield the desired results. According to the perfume expert, spraying three times around your neck area and not directly on your clothes, to avoid stains works best.
Followed by spraying once in the mid area then finally, once on your shoulder, forearm, and wrist.
This method is also determined by the scent of the perfume; if it’s intense, then less is more.

How to make your perfume last all day
The perfume expert has three tips:
- Apply unscented lotion, followed by spraying the area with just the right amount of perfume.
- Use perfume primer, yes there's primer for perfume, look it up! After the application, layer your perfume for the long-lasting effect.
- Using molecule 01 and molecule 02 (perfume enhancer) as base.
