DURBAN - My wife was overcome with emotion when she read that the eThekwini Municipality was to fund the recordings of Jacob Zuma’s Struggle songs.
She marvelled at how Thembinkosi Ngcobo, head of the Parks and Gardens, developed such a brilliant idea.
She even suggested President Ramaphosa give him a special presidential award for his brilliance.
Never mind that I and many decent ratepayers are frothing at the mouth over this project dreamed up to prop up a corrupt and largely useless politician.
One can only surmise that this idea was dreamt up in the mayor’s parlour where there are many dark recesses to create such an abominable project at a huge cost to hard pressed ratepayers.
Maybe Ngcobo sneaked into the mayor’s parlour when she was not there and hit on this idea.
Never mind the poorly kept verges with uncut grass and rubbish that is strewn alongside our suburban roads and open areas.
For Ngcobo this is not a priority.
The uncut grass, the overgrown verges and unsightly bush in the parks have fallen off the Parks and Gardens radar.
Poor Thembinkosi is busy on the road to Nkandla, promoting the JZ CD at a huge cost to over-burdened ratepayers.
This whole episode is like a bad dream! I keep watching re-runs of Fawlty Towers.
