For those who can't wait for the next BMW M6, and specifically the Convertible version, German tuner Alpina is lending a helping hand - all 373kW worth.

Alright, so it doesn't quite match the 412kW power output that the M6 will inevitably boast when inherits the M5's dual-turbo V8, but it is still significantly quicker than the 650i Convertible upon which it is based.

While the 650i puts out 300kW at 5500rpm and 600Nm between 1750 and 4500rpm, the Alpina B6 Bi-Turbo Cabrio is good for 373kW at 5500rpm and torque is up 100Nm to 700Nm, albeit a little higher in the rev range between 3000 and 4750rpm.

This, according to claims, sees the 0-100km/h sprint time reduced from five seconds on the dot to 4.8 secs, while removing the limiter allowed Alpina to endow it with a top speed of 311km/h.

There isn't much of a fuel consumption penalty either, Alpina claiming combined consumption of 10.9 litres per 100km, making it just 0.2 l/100 thirstier than the standard model.
