Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt has taken gold again - only this time it's a one-off customised Nissan GT-R coupé, built for him as a thank-you for his contribution as a brand ambassador for the GT-R, as part of the Nissan global brand campaign.

As part of the campaign, Nissan built just one commemorative GT-R, finished in a special paint called Bolt Gold, and presented it to the Usain Bolt Foundation as the top prize in an online global charity auction, with all the proceeds - which eventually totalled $193 191 (R1.75 million) going to the foundation.

But when Bolt - already a GT-R owner - saw the prize car it was love at first sight.

So now there are two 'Bolt Gold' GT-R's.

The second car is a 2014-spec model built specifically to suit Bolt's driving style, based on the data Nissan engineers recorded during a test drive when he visited the plant in October 2012.

All the finishes - inside and out - were chosen by Bolt himself, including the flamboyant white interior, Bose audio system, 10-spoked Rays forged-alloy rims, and special 'Spec Bolt' badges.

The one-of-a-kind GT-R was handed over on 5 May at Bolt's home training facility in Jamaica; the charity auction winner will take delivery of the original 'Bolt Gold' special in mid-year.
