After first being introduced in convertible guise, BMW’s new generation 6 Series is now available in South Africa in a hard-topped Coupé body style.

The new 6 Series Coupé, which was launched in SA at last week’s Johannesburg International Motor Show, is 75mm longer between the wheels than the outgoing version meaning that rear seat occupants now have a little more leg oom. The car’s sporty profile is also enhanced with a body that’s 39mm wider and 5mm lower than before.

Hi-tech features include adaptive LED headlights for low and high beam with cornering function, as well as LED technology in the foglamps and tail lights. A head-up display projected onto the windscreen now gets high-definition, full-colour-spectrum graphics, Exclusive Nappa leather seats are equipped with a ventilation function, and there’s a newly developed Bang & Olufsen high-end surround sound system.

The 6 Series is available now as a 300kW/600Nm turbocharged V8 650i priced at R1.127-million, or a 235kW/450Nm turbocharged straight six 640i for R841 216. A 3-litre turbodiesel 640d with 230kW/630Nm is available for order at R873 638 but shipments won’t arrive until early next year. -Star Motoring
