At the end of the month, Rawson Auctions will auction a “stunning” farmhouse with fruit and vegetable gardens in Lynedoch Eco Village, overlooking the Helderberg and only 12km from Stellenbosch.

The 200m² double-storey features a main bedroom, a bathroom, a spacious balcony and living area upstairs. Downstairs there are two more bedrooms, a bathroom, a big “farm kitchen” and an additional room now used as a storeroom.

Tanya Jovanovski, franchisee of Rawson Auctions Western Cape, says: “The farmhouse at 19 Lynedoch Street is extremely well maintained with wooden finishes and trimmings stylishly applied to the mainly white interior.

“Outside is parking for three vehicles, lush gardens, a well and recycled grey water storage. “One of the most notable features of the home to be auctioned is that it is solar-powered, which eliminates load shedding woes.”

The Sustainability Institute was established in Lynedoch Eco Village in 1999 to, according to its website, provide for the exploration of a “more equitable society with the emphasis on ecology, community and spirit”.

Spark Lynedoch Primary School, a Montessori preschool, and the Lynedoch Community School operate from Lynedoch Eco Village, in which the homes are built from alternative materials and fitted with solar water geysers, photovoltaic solar systems and bio-digesters.

Lynedoch has its own waste management facility, with a sewage and water treatment system that ensures that 100% of grey water is returned for village use.

The farmhouse and gardens in this commendably sustainable estate will be auctioned on January 29 at noon at the Rawson head office at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch. For more details, email Tanya Jovanovski at [email protected] or call 082 411 9599 or 079 980 3457.
