The sale will start at 11.30am at the Margate Hotel, 3139 Marine Drive.

Three of the five plots on offer are 843m² in size. The other two are 1093m² and 2731m². The auction follows instructions by the joint liquidators of the property owner, Central Zone Trading, which is under provisional liquidation.

Danielle Hoskins, who is handling the sale, says: “These sought-after sites present an ideal opportunity for investors and developers to acquire assets at a popular - and strategically placed - tranquil little town on the South Coast. The sites will be offered individually and thereafter as one lot.”

St Michael’s-on-Sea beach, at the mouth of the Umhlangeni River, is popular with swimmers and surfers.

Surfers say that when wind conditions are right it has one of the best point breaks in South Africa. A point break occurs where a wave breaks as it hits a point of land jutting out from the coastline.

The beach is patrolled by lifeguards and the water protected by shark nets. There is a children’s swimming pool as well as rock pools at the beach, which has what SA Venues calls “one of the most magnificent walks along the coastline”. The Saint’s Walk stretches from St Michael’s-on-Sea to Uvongo Beach just over 3kms away with scenic views of natural vegetation and the Indian Ocean.

The tranquil town of St Michael’s-on-Sea is 5.4km from the Margate CBD and 2.4km from Shelly Beach, and all the extensive shopping and other essential amenities available at these two major South Coast centres.
