Live, work and play in greater Overport
Location
Situated on the inland side of the Berea, the neighbourhood has sound accessibility to the N3 freeway and the infrastructure across the city in every direction. The downside is a lack of parking and congestion as the roads are not equipped to handle the current traffic volumes. Parking arrangements for the businesses along Overport Drive vary in line with available space on-site, but remain at a premium.

The mixed-use nature of Overport means people can live, work and play in the same area – in some cases even in the same building where commercial activities are conducted on the ground floor and apartments are sited on higher floors. Overport Drive specifically is no longer known for its residential properties, but the neighbouring streets have high quality houses, some on the market, that can allow for living, working and playing within a small radius.
Labour
The integrated society means there is adequate labour available within easy access and on public transport systems.
Public amenities
Overport has public amenities for those living and working within the zone. These include schools, medical facilities and shops. There are a number of halaal restaurants located along Peter Mokaba Road to suit the requirements of the many Muslim families who live locally.
