A new world record as the most expensive superhero cape sold on auction by Julien’s of California.
The famous cape was making its second auction appearance at the Julien’s sale after 40 years. It was originally part of a worldwide contest to promote the first Superman movie’s release in 1979, with the grand prize being one of the six capes used in the Warner Brothers film.
The item’s provenance includes a letter from DC Comics’s president as well as the editor and publisher.
