Warehousing and manufacturing
Land availability initially enabled companies to build large warehousing, manufacturing and distribution facilities in the area. These include Lovemore Bros, GeoChem and Mahle Behr SA.

Social services
Given its integration with residential communities, the area also has its full complement of social services – a public library, clinic, post office, banks, pharmacies and other municipal buildings – meaning employees have access to these facilities during their lunch hour.
Beverage companies
The wine and spirits giant Distell occupies a historic Cape Dutch-style building in Shepstone Road for its regional sales office, while SM Jaleel & Company (SMJ), the largest manufacturer of non-alcoholic drinks in the English-speaking Caribbean, has its South African subsidiary, SMJ Beverages SA, manufacturing facility in Otto Volek Road.
