Accessibility
Empangeni is about 5km from the N2 national freeway, 165km north of Durban and a near neighbour to Richards Bay. The upgrades to the John Ross Highway linking the two towns and the N2 have boosted accessibility into both towns, while King Shaka International Airport and Dube TradePort are fewer than two hours’ travel away for tourism and trade-related requirements.
Tourism opportunities
Empangeni is considered one of the gateways to Zululand and the game parks. This offers investors opportunities for building tourismbased businesses, ranging from restaurants, hotels and smaller accommodation options to speciality tour requirements.
