The National School of the Arts (NSA) is hosting a month-long celebration of creativity at the Joburg Theatre, showcasing music, dance and drama performances that highlight the talents of young artists.
As part of this celebration, Creative Confluence: Moving Stories merges theatre and dance to explore themes of grief, healing, and transformation.
A key feature of the production is the premiere of Comforted Mourners, a moving piece by NSA alum Evelyn Mabikwa, performed by Grade 12 Drama students. The show is being staged at the Lesedi Theatre, Joburg Theatre, with performances today, March 15, at 2.30pm and 7pm. Tickets available through Joburg Theatre and Webtickets.
Also today, the NSA’s Dance Department is hosting a Dance & Movement Improv Workshop from 11am to 1pm. Led by guest facilitators Tshepo Zasekhaya and Evelyn Mabikwa, the workshop offers a space for participants to explore movement and expression.
Later this month, the NSA’s Music Department will present the 2nd Edition of the NSA Jazz and Pop Ensembles in Concert, featuring the NSA choir, jazz band, orchestra, and soloists. This concert will also serve as a homecoming for two prominent NSA alumni: jazz and soul vocalist Zoë Modiga and violinist Dr Samson Diamond. The concert will take place at the Mandela Theatre, Joburg Theatre, on Friday, March 22, with tickets available via Webtickets and Joburg Theatre.
