Horne committed his future to the Ellis Park side for another three years, opting to remain in Johannesburg until 2028. He adds his name to a handful of players who have decided to remain with the Lions for another couple of seasons.
The 25-year-old has been one of the outstanding players for the franchise this season and his extension will be a boost to the side as they bid for a first-ever play-off spot in the United Rugby Championship (URC). They face the Stormers on Saturday at home in a crucial clash on their way to a possible top-eight place.
“Representing and leading this franchise is a massive honour for me.”
“Representing and leading this franchise is a massive honour for me,” Horn said after signing on.
“I’m excited to experience what the future has in store as I believe we can achieve big things as a team and, most importantly bring joy to Joburg once more.”
A former Junior Springbok, Horne has represented the Lions 61 times at franchise level after making his debut in 2020. The bruiser has scored 18 tries and will be eager to add to that tally.

With a hurting Stormers side heading to Ellis Park on Saturday after falling to the Bulls, Horn could be a crucial cog in the home side's plan to inflict another loss on their visitors.
The expected battle between him and the Bok's eighth man Evan Roos is one to anticipate, especially with Horn knocking on the door of the national team. He's put in excellent performances for the Lions over the last couple of seasons and his commitment to stay in South Africa shows that he wants to remain in the conversations when it comes to the Springboks.
Another strong display on Saturday, firstly to inspire the Lions to a win, could strengthen his case for higher honours this year.
