South African singer Rethabile Khumalo is facing the future bravely after a tumultuous journey of being hospitalised after she was poisoned, and being readmitted just days after being discharged.
Her mother Winnie Khumalo broke the news on social media, seeking prayers for her daughter's recovery after a friend allegedly poisoned her.
On June 28, Winnie shared an emotional Instagram post: “So I thought I will keep quiet until my daughter is ok ... She is fighting for her life. She was poisoned by a so-called friend.”
She revealed that Rethabile had been hospitalised for six days and had undergone three operations in an attempt to stabilise her condition.
Now, Rethabile is bravely focusing on her life after surviving the poisoning ordeal. Despite the critical state she was in, she has decided not to open a case against the person responsible, whose identity remains undisclosed.
She told “Sunday World”: “I just want to leave it behind and be grateful for my life.
“Whatever happened should be a lesson to everyone, and I am not opening any [criminal] case but looking forward to the future and focusing on pushing the song I dropped, #EGalile. God will deal with that woman.”
Rethabile's strength shines through as she discusses her healing journey, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from her fans.
“Regarding my healing journey, I have received so much love, prayers, and support from everyone who cares. From now on, I will be paying attention to everyone and being extra careful.”
The singer's focus is now on her son and her music.
“I will not go into details. I had my baby boy, my sunshine. All that I will be doing is for him,” she shared.
She added: “If you know my song ‘eGalile’, the sound has matured, and that was the sound I wanted to do all along, but I had to do what people wanted.”
