Local musician Eon Le Roux’s ultimate goal is to create music that resonates deeply with listeners and evokes emotions.
“I aspire to connect with a wide audience, share my unique stories and perspectives and inspire others through my music,” the singer and songwriter said.
“Ultimately, I hope to leave a meaningful legacy through my songs and be recognised for my artistry and contributions to the world of music”.
The “Voice SA” season 3 finalist has made an emotional connection with his fans through the release of his latest single “Legacy”, which he created to honour his late grandmother.
The empowering yet emotive ballad celebrates a life of well-lived as well as cherished memories and the invaluable lessons that his grandmother imparted to him.
The song, rich in contemporary sounds and meaningful lyrics, offers a hopeful and honest reflection on Le Roux’s grandmother's life.
“‘Legacy’ is a song I wrote for my grandmother when she turned 100,” he explained.
“She always believed that your legacy is what people will remember about you, so chase your dreams, be kind to others, and never give up in the face of adversity.”
He added that while he is deeply grateful to his parents for their unwavering support in chasing his dreams, he feels the “overwhelming need to express my heartfelt appreciation to my grandmother”.
“As a tribute to her incredible presence and impact on our family, I felt compelled to write a song called ‘Legacy’, which I believe perfectly captures her essence”.
Since the single was released independently in July, Le Roux said he was thrilled about the response it has been receiving.
“The response to the song has been overwhelmingly positive, with many people expressing how inspired they felt after listening to it”.
Le Roux has made a mark on the music industry since he made it to the “Voice SA” finals in 2019. He has since performed at various festivals and major events across South Africa as well as abroad.
He has also shared the stage with top musicians such as Jo Black, Riky Rick, Paul Baloche and Don Moen.
His debut single “Never in a Million”, which was released in February 2021, soared to the number one spot on local radio stations.
Le Roux said that it would be a “dream come true” to work with South African rapper and songwriter, Cassper Nyovest.
He described his musical journey as “dynamic and ever-changing”.
“From a young age, my deep love for music and singing became evident,” he added.
“As I dedicated myself to refining my skills, I delved into various genres and styles, enabling my musical expression to evolve and flourish.”
He said that participating on “The Voice SA” was an extraordinary opportunity.
“I found myself surrounded by industry experts and the very best in the field. With an eager and open mind, I absorbed every ounce of knowledge and expertise, fully aware of the profound impact it would have on shaping my own path as an emerging artist.”
Le Roux believes that music has the power to convey messages, express feelings and create a sense of connection.
“That’s what inspires my love for music.”
He explained that the most challenging part of his profession is creating meaningful music that resonates with him on a personal level and connects with others.
“I strive to compose melodies and lyrics that evoke deep emotions, inspire introspection and uplift spirits.”
“The most gratifying aspect of my musical journey is when someone tells me that my music has empowered them to conquer their fears and pursue their dreams.”
“It is an indescribable feeling of fulfilment and joy to know that my art has the power to inspire and motivate others on their own path to success.”
With the release of his new single, Le Roux has even more projects in the works.
“I have a few thrilling new projects that I will be working on for the upcoming months and I’m eagerly anticipating the excitement they will generate among people.”
His advice to aspiring musicians is to “Follow your passion, hone your craft, be open to learning, build a strong network, stay persistent and resilient, be authentic, embrace feedback and enjoy the journey.”
