Johannesburg - A 52-year-old man, accused of sleeping with an 18-year-old pupil at the school where he works, was beaten up by members of the community after he was caught sleeping with the learner.

The man is alleged to have been caught red-handed by members of the Seleteng community in Mphahlele having sex with one of the matric learners.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the teacher is seen naked, with blood oozing from his body after he received a beating from angry community members.

According to the Limpopo Chronicle, the Limpopo Department of Education has since suspended the deputy principal allegedly caught having sex with a matric learner in Seleteng, Ga-Mphahlele.

It is reported that the deputy principal (52) of Kgaga-Tlou Secondary School was found to have slept with the learner, and after the learner was reported missing, the principal of the school called the parents, only to find that they ,too, did not know where their child was.

The learner is reported to have gone missing for four days before she was discovered at the house of the deputy principal. She was part of a group of pupils who had camped at the school in preparation for their matric examinations.

It was later discovered that the learner was at the premises of the deputy principal.

"The Limpopo Department of Education is aware of the video clip of the Deputy Principal of Kgagatlou Secondary School that is making the rounds on social media. The educator, after he was allegedly assaulted, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a learner at the school where he works," reads the departmental statement said.

Speaking to SAFM, departmental spokesperson Mike Maringa confirmed that the matter is receiving urgent attention.

"We are currently following the matter to establish facts. It has also been confirmed that following this incident, the learner has returned home and is currently writing her exams as scheduled," Maringa said.
