Tweeps have come out to defend Sonia Booth after her husband, Matthew Booth, released a statement amid cheating allegations by his wife.
Earlier this week, Sonia Booth dragged her husband Matthew Booth on social media and accused him of cheating with his personal trainer, Bongani Mthombeni-Moller, after having hired a private investigator to follow him.
In a statement posted on his Twitter account, Booth distanced himself from the claims and wrote: “It is with utmost sadness and a disappointment that my wife, Sonia Booth, resorted to airing these unfounded allegations on all public platforms with an intention to tarnish my name without discussing them with me.”
The big takeaway from the statement was that he apologised to Bongani Moller, as well as his sponsors, for the embarrassment.
“I would like to appeal to Mrs Mthombeni-Moller, the corporates and sponsors who have partnered with the Booth Trust for the advancement of soccer development initiatives. This shouldn’t allow personal matter to deter the good work that’s being done, and that which lies ahead,” said Booth.
Tweeps were having none of it and accused Booth of gaslighting his wife and making her look like an angry black woman.
Reading this statement… Sonia is right… Also man’s painted his wife as an Angry Black Woman. Behavioural Science 101- when someone has been caught in a fix, they usually refer to the person they are in a fix with by their surname to deflect. Matthew knows Bongani 😅😅😅 https://t.co/OuaTNpYUPe
Out here trying to paint YOUR wife as an angry black woman. Disgusting. Sies. #Boooooooo
