PRESIDENT of the South African Hindu Maha Sabha Ashwin Trikamjee passed on last night.
Trikamjee was an executive consultant at Garlicke and Bousefield Inc and Board Director at the 1860 Heritage Centre.
His close friend Vivian Reddy paid tribute to him this morning.
“With a shattered heart, I share the heart-breaking news of the sudden passing of my dearest friend and confidant of over 45 years, Ashwin Trikamjee.
“Just yesterday, I stood by his side in the hospital, speaking with him, never imagining it would be our final conversation,” said Reddy. “Ashwin was more than a friend—he was family. A man of unwavering integrity, a devoted father, and a true servant of the community, he dedicated his life to uplifting others. His wisdom, kindness, and presence were a guiding light, and his loss is immeasurable. “My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire us all. Rest well, my brother. You will forever be in my heart,” he added.
Selvan Naidoo of the 1860 Heritage Centre said: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ashwin Trikamjee. He was a constant source of strength, wisdom, and guidance to all whom he came into contact with.
“Ashwin tirelessly served our society in many capacities from sports administration, cultural activism and religious leadership, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that touched the lives of so many people.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the Trikamjee family, his friends and colleagues. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti,” said Naidoo.
Yogas Nair, editor of the POST newspaper also extended her condolences to Trikamjee’s family.
“Mr Trikamjee has been a dear personal friend and one to the POST newspaper for many, many years. He leaves a legacy that will continue to motivate and inspire us all. He will be deeply missed,” said Nair.
