Eight people, four of them women, will appear in the Mankwane Magistrate's Court on Monday in connection with the mob justice murder of a teenager, Free State police said.

Phuthaditjhaba residents on Friday accused Samuel Mkhwanazi, 17, of a spate of robberies in the area, said Sergeant Mmako Mophiring. Residents caught Mkhwanazi and alerted the police. While police were on their way, they started beating him.

“On arrival, the police found the suspect injured and rushed him to Mofumahadi Manapo Regional Hospital for treatment. He died on Saturday.”

A murder docket was opened and the eight people, aged between 20 and 47, were arrested. – Sapa
