A Bloemfontein man has died in hospital after jumping six floors in an attempt to escape arrest, police said on Thursday.

Captain Chaka Marope said the man jumped when he was caught breaking into a flat in Zastron Street in the early hours on Wednesday.

“In his attempt to escape, he climbed through the window and jumped from the sixth floor.”

The man suffered multiple injuries and died a few hours later in the Pelonomi Hospital. – Sapa
