Fifty farmworkers were injured when their truck overturned on the R26 near Fouriesburg in the Free State on Tuesday, paramedics said.

Several were seriously injured, Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks said.

They would be treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

“More ambulances have been called to the scene.”

Wicks said paramedics found workers lying in the road. The truck had landed on its side. - Sapa
