Sasolburg - Five people were killed in a taxi accident between Sasolburg and Koppies in the Free State on Friday afternoon, paramedics said.

“Halfway between Sasolburg and Koppies on the Koppies Road a taxi lost control and rolled into a sunflower field,” ER24

spokesman Derrick Banks said.

When paramedics arrived at the accident scene they found the taxi had 13 occupants. A three-year-old boy had died, four others passengers were critical, and the other eight suffered from serious to minor injuries.

“Paramedics started stabilising patients but unfortunately five people have died, including the boy.”

Banks said one passenger was in a critical condition and the remaining seven were suffering from serious injuries. - Sapa
