Johannesburg - Four people have died in a head-on collision between a truck and a car on the R30 near Odendaalsrus in the Free State, paramedics said on Sunday.

“The collision left several people dead... paramedics could not establish how many people were in the car,” ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said on the crash on Saturday.

He said the car was almost completely under the front of the truck.

“Heavy duty rescue services had to be called to the scene to lift the truck from the vehicle.

“Due to the mechanism of damage, paramedics could not establish the exact amount of fatalities, but it appears as if four people were killed in the car.”

Vermaak said the truck driver was not injured. - Sapa
