A man was killed and two other people seriously injured when their vehicle crashed into a tree along the Masimong road in Welkom in the Free State, paramedics said on Sunday.
ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson said the sedan appeared to be wrapped around the tree.
“The driver was declared dead at the scene while the passengers, a man and a woman, sustained critical injuries.”
She said both passengers were trapped in the vehicle. Paramedics together with local Fire and Rescue services stabilised the man and woman while they were being cut free.
They were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Jackson said the cause of the accident was not yet known. - Sapa
