Blomfontein - A passenger was killed and 14 others injured on Monday when a taxi overturned near Zastron in the Free State, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said six people were seriously hurt and eight suffered multiple injuries.

Apparently the taxi rolled several times, ejecting most of its occupants.

“Ambulances from nearby areas were dispatched to the scene to assist with the evacuation of patients,” said Vermaak.

The R726 was closed to all traffic during the rescue operation. - Sapa
