Eighteen people were injured when a cash-in-transit van collided with a minibus taxi in Bloemfontein on Saturday, paramedics said.

The taxi appeared to have turned in front of the armoured cash van causing them to collide and skid across the road, Netcare 911

spokesman Jeffrey Wicks said.

“When our paramedics arrived the injured commuters had spilled from the wreckage of the minibus,” he said.

The guards also managed to get out of their cash van.

All were treated and stabilised at the scene before being transported by ambulance to state and private hospitals.

Wicks said the accident and the events leading up to it remained unclear and would be investigated by police. - Sapa
