Sydenham - A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death over food in Bloemfontein, Free State police said on Monday.

Captain Chaka Marope said a truck driver and his assistant had an argument over food on Friday.

He said the two were travelling from George to Johannesburg. When they arrived in Bloemfontein they stopped at a truck stop in Sydenham at the outskirts of town for refreshment and relaxation.

“The driver then had a vicious argument over food with his assistant that resulted in the fist fight between the two.”

He said the driver pulled out the knife and stabbed the assistant in the chest. Paramedics were called and declared the 28-year-old man dead.

The 42-year-old driver was arrested and was expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. - Sapa
