Petrusburg, Free State - A man and a woman have died in a car accident outside Petrusburg in the Free State, paramedics said on Friday.

There were three adults and three children in the vehicle at the time, said ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson.

Two children, both believed to be under five-years-old, were taken to hospital. It was not known what their injuries were. A two-year-old child suffered multiple broken bones.

Jackson said a woman was taken to hospital after complaining of back and shoulder pain.

She said the car rolled on a gravel road heading towards Fauresmith on Thursday afternoon. The cause of the accident was not known. - Sapa
