Two held for businessman’s murder

Welkom - Two men have been arrested for the murder of a Chinese businessman in Welkom, Free State police said on Thursday.

Captain Stephen Thakeng said police arrested a 28-year-old man from Lesotho on Wednesday after receiving a tip-off.

A 29-year-old Chinese man, who was also allegedly involved in the murder, was arrested later.

The two were expected to appear soon in the Welkom Magistrate's Court.

The businessman, Liang Ping Gao, 51, was shot in his shop on March 11. He died later in hospital. - Sapa
