Bloemfontein - A veld fire broke out near Bainsvlei police station in Bloemfontein on Friday, Free State police said.
“At this stage we are not sure what caused the fire,” said Captain Harry Nagel.
No buildings were affected and no casualties were reported.
The fire began just before 4pm and was under control by 5pm, Nagel said.
He dismissed rumours that the fire had been caused by a plane crash.
Police are investigating.
