A magical sunset cruise

Cape Town - Another summer is on the horizon and while I’m looking forward to the usual beach, mountain, winelands triptych in Cape Town, I was also looking for a different view of my favourite city.

An invitation from the Radisson Blu Hotel and Tangent Charters for a sunset cruise along the Atlantic Seaboard provided exactly that.

Tangent’s catamaran is moored outside the Radisson at the Waterfront, and the fresh and delicious snacks on board are supplied by the hotel’s restaurant.

The catamaran follows the coast and goes around to Clifton and Camps Bay.

Tangent’s charming captain and his indulgent crew made me feel perfectly safe and relaxed despite the not so smooth sailing because of the infamous Cape wind. In hindsight - and with a more settled stomach - the wind in the sails just added to our mini adventure at sea.

Spectacular views are a dime a dozen in Cape Town but looking in at the city from Table Bay as the sun begins to set is just magnificent.

And, as if choreographed, a school of dolphins came swimming up next to the boat.

Back on dry land we joined our excited cruisemates for a lively and very enjoyable dinner at Radisson Blu’s Tobago's Restaurant.

Perfection!
