Cape Town - The annual Stellenbosch Street Soiree season began last month and these jolly events take place every second Wednesday until the end of March.

Drostdy Street in the middle of town is closed off to traffic and becomes a buzzing food and wine market with hay bales and live music.

The soirees begin at 6pm and finish at 8pm and each features a different selection of cellars and food vendors. For just R70 you get a glass to taste as many wines as you want.

“Stellenbosch has a recipe for living that is hard to resist or come by. With these street parties we offer visitors a taste of our way of life through quality wines, delicious bites and live music,” said Elmarie Rabe, project manager of the Stellenbosch Wine Routes.

Upcoming dates are Wednesday and January 27, February 10 and 24, and March 9 and 23 (weather permitting). For additional details call 021 886 4310, see www.wineroute.co.za, follow the Stellenbosch Wine Routes on Twitter @StellWineRoute or like them on Facebook at STBStreetSoirees.#VisitStellenbosch.
