Cape Town – Long Street Boutique Hotel is the latest addition to the famous Long Street strip in the Cape Town city bowl.

Recently acquired by Dutch businessman and former correspondent, Raymond Hasselerharm, it was the historical charm and character of the building, combined with the vibrancy of its surrounds that prompted him to invest in this property.

The establishment creates a “wonderfully cool oasis within the bustling cosmopolitan landscape”, says Hasselerharm.

The hotel currently comprises of a restaurant, bar and six en-suite rooms with views of the cityscape and glimpses of Table Mountain beyond.

Hasselerharm plans to upgrade and expand the hotel, offering a “meeting place where travellers from all over the world come together to relax, explore the city, meet friends and feel at home”.

He aims to add another eight en-suite rooms of which the majority will feature private, spacious balconies.

The rooms will be soundproofed, allowing for a tranquil environment away from the street’s festivities.

“With its central location, easy access to Cape Town’s major attractions and offering of Bohemian shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars on its doorstep, the Long Street Boutique Hotel will appeal to tourists and locals, young and old” concludes Hasselerharm.

Successfully blending Victorian architecture with modern conveniences and contemporary elements, the hotel is further complemented by Arriba – an ‘Afro Latin Café’ echoing the energy and passion of the Latin and African cultures through its food, décor and ambiance. Here patrons can expect a fusion of African and Latin cuisine, sip exotic cocktails at sunset, enjoy live performances by bands and singers and learn how to “cha-cha-cha”, salsa, tango and mambo.

Building alterations are set to commence in May 2014 and will be completed by August 2014 – in time for South Africa’s high season.

The upgrade will result in the hotel acquiring 4-star status (from its current 3-star rating) and offering 14 en suite rooms.
