Angelo Briesies (@angelobriesies) enjoys sharing family life and laughter on his TikTok videos.
The Cape Town creator has just more than 18 000 followers on the app with his content gaining over half a million likes. His content varies and includes the occasional skit to reaction videos of other content creators.
Briesies, originally from Mossel Bay, has been married to his wife, Joy Briesies for eight years. The couple have two children, Hope and Kai.
Briesies works for the department of health as an admin officer, dealing with bursaries. It’s been ten months since he started his TikTok account in April and he was inspired by a TikTok video of Cedric Laguma (@cedriclaguma).
“I thought I could do this kind of thing but by adding my own flavour to it. That’s how my content creation started,” he said.

What is your favourite thing about your family and your family life?
“My wife and I understand one another well and I think she’s funnier than what I am. Seeing my children each day fulfils me so much. We try our best to give them the best. We love travelling as a family and that’s usually where we bond.”
How do you plan your content for TikTok and what is your favourite type of content to create?
“When I hear a TikTok audio it usually inspires me to create skits and I try to act on it as soon as possible. As time went by, I became more confident in creating my own jokes and exploring my editing skills. I enjoy being creative and thinking outside of the box.”
Were you surprised at how well your content has done on the app?
“I was surprised at how my content grew my following and that I did that just by making jokes. After that, my content evolved into a more creative space and I learned to explore with it.”
What has the reaction to your content been like amongst your family and friends?
“At first I did it for fun, so they didn’t really take note but afterwards I realised the potential I have on this platform. My wife has supported me every step of the way. Most of my family isn’t on TikTok but I post my content to Facebook for them. My colleagues have been very supportive and so have my close friends.”
What are your future aspirations for your TikTok account?
“There are endless possibilities with this platform. My goal is to make money with the platform or be in a position that allows me to make jokes or even edit videos for a living. I’d love to do stand up comedy and entertain people. I love entertaining people and I would like to continue doing so.”
What advice do you have for anyone who wants to start a TikTok account?
“I think that TikTok is a good platform for everyone to enjoy what the world has to offer. From laughing and dancing to advice and cooking, there is something for everyone and there is space for you.”
