Moms and dads, are you wondering what to do to keep their little ones occupied on a low budget this festive season? Worry not, as there are many wonderful places to go and places to see this festive season for R100 or less.

Intaka Island in Century Central City is hosting a holiday programme that has a host of activities that range from boat rides, rock painting, treasure hunts and bird watching.

These fun activities run from December 19-27 for only R80.

Moms and dads can drop off the little ones, while rushing off to do some last-minute Christmas shopping.

Intaka Island also offers a January programme for R100 with activities that include yoga for kids, slime making and boat rides. Both these programmes are best suited for kids between 7 and 12 years. Moms and dads can make direct contact with Intaka Island for further queries on 021 552 6889.

Huckleberry Fish Farm is another exciting place for children. It is situated on the R304, Stellenbosch Road. (opposite Klein Joostenberg deli).

Activities for children include putt putt, water slide, water fountain, peddle cars, jungle gyms and zip line (is) included in the entrance fee. The entrance fee is R100 per person, children aged 3 and under enter for free.

Optional extras:

To hire a real fishing rod: R50 per rod.

To hire a bamboo rod: R20 per rod.

To bring your own rod: R30 per rod.

All rod options include one bucket of bait.

Fishing is catch and release only. The dams are well stocked with tilapia or you can feed and meet the farm animals.

Catering is not included, however, the establishment does have a small tuck shop that sells sweets, chips, chocolates, cool drinks and wood for a family braai.

They are open weekends and public holidays from 9am to 5pm. They will not open on December 24, 25 and 26.

The bike park situated in Constantia Uitsig Spaanschemat River Rd, Porter Reform Estate Cape Town is suitable for all ages, from kids on balance bikes to advanced riders.

It’s R50 per hour and hire bikes and helmets are available
